SJSA Memorial Quilt Project

Memorial Quilts are textile memorials for families who have lost a loved one to violence. They reflect the life of the person in a quilt created using textiles or photos given to us by their family. Your participation allows for the families of the honoree to receive a quilt that celebrates the life of their loved one and brings our community together in support of a shared mission of social justice. We are honoring the loss of human life and ensuring that families who receive a quilt know that they are supported and their loved ones will never be forgotten.

Would you like to get involved?

If you’re a quilter, you can offer comfort and support to a bereaved family by making a Memorial Quilt. You will use fabric mementos and pictures in a quilt of your design that takes into consideration information provided by families such as favorite colors, likes, and dislikes of the person whose life will be celebrated and remembered in your quilt. You need to be a quilter to participate in this program.
